Lisbon!

Hello lovelies!

So last week me and my Paddy went to Lisbon for a fantastic few days. This year's Irish summer wasn't half bad but it was still great to go somewhere really hot and really sunny :-)
It was my first time in Lisbon - but most likely not the last one! We stayed in The House, a lovely B&B/hotel located slightly away from the city centre, near a gorgeous park.
Lisbon is a beautiful and a bit surprising city. Nothing compares to walking around the steep and bendy streets of the old town, but Lisbon also has an ultra-modern face which can take your breath away. So here are "a few" (by that I mean loads...) snapshots from the trip. Enjoy!

One of the attractions of Lisbon is the Santa Justa Elevator. It was built in 1902 to connect two streets - yes, the elevation difference between the streets is so large, they came up with a system of funiculars, as well as the lift, to make life little bit easier.
The lift is beautifully decorated and the views from the top are stunning!

Can't visit Lisbon without trying the amazing pasteis de nata (that's in plural cause you can't stop after one...)

It seems you can find an Irish pub anywhere in the world...

Lisbon's Oceanarium was on our list of things to see. As advised, we took the metro to the Oriente Station and when came up outside - well, we were stunned by the views. After seeing the old Lisbon, it was surprising (and almost refreshing) to see its modern face, with all the space and the beautiful architecture.

 And the Oceanaruim itself:

All this walking and sightseeing makes you hungry. If you're in the Oceanarium area, República da Cerveja is worth checking out. It specializes in steaks and beer and I have pictures of neither cause that's how quickly the food disappeared... So here's the pic of me reading the menu :-)

And here's some fish for dessert :-)

Even though this post is suuuuper heavy with pictures, I still have loads more. Don't worry, I won't bore you with them - but Lisbon is certainly very photogenic :-) Have you ever been there? What about other places in Portugal?

All the best,
Domo.

Domo's Dublin Street Style

Hello lovelies!

As revealed by the title, this post will be about street style in Dublin. The idea of taking pictures of people on the street to show off what they're wearing is not a new one (check out the most famous one The Sartorialist), but Dublin seems to be underrepresented on the web in this department. It is a pity cause its streets are just as colourful and inspiring as any other big city.
So one semi-sunny day, I took my camera and, despite my rather extreme introvert nature, went out to take a few pictures of strangers who, in my opinion, looked inspiring, interesting and somehow different from the rest of the "mass". My choices were very subjective but the main idea was to look for people who wear clothes, not costumes. I'm interested in discovering the diversity of Dublin and in showing off its many "faces", not in pursuing some fake perfection (no Photoshop!)
So here are the first five pics; I am only at the beginning of this small adventure but if it works out, the Dublin Street Fashion will get its own section on the blog. Hope you enjoy it :-)

That's all for today, more to come :-) and a huge thanks to my first models! :-)
All the best,

Domo.

Gdansk :-)

Hello again!

Today's post is the last in the "Polish seaside series" and it's about Gdansk. It's not a spa town, like Sopot, but it's definitely worth visiting. The architecture is stunning, there is no shortage of coffee shops or restaurants, and every year in July it hosts a huge fair where you can find jewelery, clothes and all kinds of items, from the "arty" to the tacky and everything in between. So here are some pics:

A little bit of heaven for me :-) - this stall sells my fave sweets "krowki" ("little cows", if translated directly)

That's all for today. I'm not sure what the next post will be about - I just came back from Lisbon, which was fantastic by the way, but I'm also working on something new for the blog... So we'll see :-) All the best and remember, it's almost Friday!
